Iran carried out a series of attacks across the region, with Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain and Qatar reporting incidents during the early hours of Friday, as tensions continue to rise amid the ongoing conflict.
Kuwait was among the countries that witnessed multiple attacks, while Jordan said it intercepted several missiles that entered its airspace. Jordanian authorities said there were no injuries or reported damage from the incidents.
Similar incidents were reported in Bahrain and Qatar. In Qatar, residents received emergency text alerts warning of an imminent threat and advising them to take shelter. Loud explosions were heard, and authorities said the sounds were caused by interceptions.
A child was injured by falling debris following the interceptions, according to Qatari authorities.
Meanwhile, Iran’s semi-official Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) reported that the area around Sirik in southern Iran had been targeted in what it described as a US military attack. No further details were immediately provided.
Separately, the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had redirected four commercial vessels, disabled one and boarded another during the first three days of its renewed naval blockade targeting vessels entering and leaving Iranian ports.
US forces resumed the blockade at 20:00 GMT on Tuesday, as Washington continues efforts to restrict maritime activity linked to Iran amid the escalating conflict.
