U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly issued a strong warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Iran conflict.
Following Israeli strikes in Lebanon, Iran launched a major missile and drone attack against Israel on Sunday night. While some of the missiles and drones were intercepted by Israel’s air defense systems, others reportedly reached Israeli territory.
Although the United States did not directly assist in carrying out the Iranian attack, Trump reportedly told Netanyahu on Sunday not to retaliate against Iran. However, Israel carried out strikes against Iran yesterday morning.
After those strikes, both countries announced a temporary halt to attacks. Despite that, media reports suggested that Israel was considering further military action.
In an interview with a U.S. media outlet, Trump reportedly said that if Israel launched another attack on Iran, American support for Israel could be affected, and that he had conveyed this warning to Netanyahu.
“I told Bibi, you’d better be careful what you do, because you could be left alone against Iran very soon.”
The direct Iranian attacks on Sunday were described as retaliation for Israeli strikes on Beirut, Lebanon. Iran had previously warned that if Israel continued such attacks, it would respond directly against Israel.
