A United States military helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, with both crew members rescued safely and reported to be in good condition.
According to the US military’s Central Command, rescue teams recovered the two crew members within approximately two hours of the incident. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the helicopter’s loss remains under investigation. US officials have not released a final determination on what caused the aircraft to go down.
The incident occurred shortly after tensions between Iran and Israel eased following several days of exchanges between the two countries. However, US military officials have not publicly linked the helicopter incident to those developments.
