Maldives, Saudi Arabia Hold High-Level Talks

The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with both countries pledging to expand cooperation in trade, investment and other areas of mutual interest during high-level talks between President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and His Royal Highness Prince Dr Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Prince Dr Mansour, who is visiting the Maldives as the Guest of Honour for the country’s 61st Independence Day celebrations, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Muizzu at the President’s Office after receiving an official welcome upon his arrival in Malé.

During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu thanked the Saudi leadership for accepting his invitation to participate in the Independence Day celebrations, describing the visit as a reflection of the close and enduring ties between the two nations.

The President also expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support to the Maldives, highlighting the Makkah Route Initiative, which has greatly facilitated travel and immigration procedures for Maldivian pilgrims travelling to perform Hajj.

Prince Dr Mansour conveyed the greetings of the Saudi leadership and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining its longstanding friendship with the Maldives. He noted that Saudi Arabia has always attached special importance to the development and prosperity of the Maldives and remains committed to supporting its progress.

The two sides discussed ways to further deepen the brotherly relationship between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, built on shared Islamic values, mutual respect and longstanding cooperation. They also explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in trade, investment and a range of other sectors of mutual interest, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Prince Dr Mansour is attending the Maldives’ 61st Independence Day celebrations on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, following an invitation extended by President Dr Muizzu.
