The Maldives Police Service has officially launched a new operational plan targeting traffic congestion and road safety across the capital city and the Sinamalé Bridge highway.
The strategic plan was inaugurated by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed during a special meeting held at Iskandharu Koshi 1 with the staff of the Traffic Police and Road Management department. Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikury and other senior commissioned officers also attended the ceremony.
Addressing the personnel, Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed emphasized the pressing need to strengthen ongoing efforts to manage the city’s gridlock and ensure public safety on the roads. He noted that the total number of officers assigned to traffic operations has recently been increased. With these deployment changes, the Commissioner urged officers to maintain a heightened presence in Malé’s most congested zones to directly alleviate the daily travel difficulties faced by commuters.
Following the Commissioner’s directives, the Traffic and Road Management department assured the public that operations are actively expanding. Traffic police visibility will scale up across several new designated zones in the capital city, building upon the checkpoints and highway patrols already in place.
