Vice President Highlights Maldives’ Climate Priorities at Berlin Forum

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed departed Germany after representing the Maldives at the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum 2026, where he underscored the urgent need for stronger international support for climate-vulnerable nations.

During the forum, the Vice President shared the Maldives’ perspective on climate mobility and emphasized the importance of increasing climate financing, adaptation measures, and global cooperation to help countries facing the growing impacts of climate change.

The high-level gathering brought together heads of state, senior government officials, policymakers, and representatives from communities most affected by climate-related challenges. Discussions focused on strengthening international commitments and advancing a shared global approach to climate mobility.

The Vice President highlighted the unique vulnerabilities faced by small island nations such as the Maldives, stressing the need for practical solutions that address displacement risks, environmental pressures, and long-term climate resilience.

The Berlin Climate Mobility Forum serves as a platform for governments and international stakeholders to exchange ideas and develop coordinated responses to the increasing challenges posed by climate change. The event also sought to build momentum toward achieving broader international consensus on climate mobility and support mechanisms for affected populations.

The Maldives has consistently advocated for stronger global climate action, particularly in areas related to adaptation financing, resilience-building, and safeguarding the future of vulnerable island communities.
