Maldives Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed has met Defence Minister of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh to discuss defence cooperation and regional security issues.
According to the Saudi Defence Minister, the meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia and explored ways to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments, as well as efforts aimed at promoting security and stability across the region.
In a post on X, Prince Khalid said the meeting covered a number of issues of mutual interest and examined opportunities to further enhance cooperation between the two nations.
Hassan Rasheed travelled to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the Saudi Defence Minister.
During the visit, the Maldivian minister also met Major General Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Ghuraibi, Deputy Military Commander of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC).
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism efforts, expanding joint training programmes and enhancing the professional capabilities of defence personnel through greater collaboration between the two sides.
The discussions reflect continued engagement between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia on defence, security and regional stability.
