A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to bring narcotics into Meedhoo in Seenu Atoll.
The suspect, identified as Abdullah Shaun of Iraak, Meedhoo, was arrested on 29 October during a joint operation by Meedhoo Police and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.
The operation followed information that a passenger travelling aboard a boat from Malé to Meedhoo was carrying narcotics.
During a search, police discovered a juice packet containing a substance suspected to be narcotics.
Shaun was presented before court, which ordered him to be remanded in custody for 15 days.
Police said the investigation into the case is ongoing.
