Iran Claims Missile Strike on US-Linked Airbase in Jordan

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has carried out a missile strike against an airbase in Jordan that hosts US military personnel, as tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to escalate.

In a statement, the IRGC said its Aerospace Force launched long-range solid-fuel missiles at the base, claiming that four key targets were destroyed, including hangars used for F-35 fighter jets and a command-and-control centre.

The claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation from US or Jordanian authorities regarding the reported damage.

The IRGC described the strike as part of a wider retaliatory operation against US military assets in the region. According to the statement, Iran targeted 21 locations linked to US air and naval forces and also claimed responsibility for downing an American MQ-9 drone that it said had entered Iranian airspace.

Iranian officials said the operation was conducted in response to recent US military actions against targets inside Iran.

The IRGC warned that its forces remain on high alert and are prepared to launch what it described as a “crushing and decisive” response if further attacks are carried out by the United States.

The statement added that Washington would bear full responsibility for the consequences of any future escalation.

The latest claims come amid rapidly rising tensions between Iran and the United States following a series of military exchanges across the region.
