Iran Says Progress Made in Talks with US, But Agreement Not Ready to Sign

Iran says it has reached common ground with the United States on several issues in ongoing talks, but has stressed that the two sides are still not close enough to sign an agreement.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said it would be reasonable to say that progress had been made on many of the matters under discussion.

However, Baghaei said no one could claim that the negotiations had reached the point where an agreement was ready to be signed.

He accused the United States of repeatedly changing its position during the talks, saying this had prolonged the negotiations and remained one of the main obstacles to reaching a final agreement.

The remarks come as both countries continue discussions aimed at ending the ongoing conflict and easing regional tensions. Reports indicate that separate rounds of talks have taken place between the two sides in recent days.

According to Iran, while agreement has been reached on several issues, differences remain on key matters. These unresolved points are expected to delay any final deal.

Baghaei said Washington’s shifting stance has made the process more difficult, while Tehran believes a stable position from both sides is needed to move the negotiations forward.

The international community has been closely watching the talks, with world leaders expressing hope that an agreement between Iran and the United States could help strengthen regional peace and stability.

Both sides are expected to continue working toward a possible outcome, although Iran has indicated that more negotiations will be required before any deal can be finalized.
