The Ministry of Defence has held discussions on strengthening relations between the Maldives and the UK.
Official talks were held regarding ways to further strengthen the relationship between the Maldives and the United Kingdom in the field of defence.
The discussions took place during a courtesy call paid to Defence Minister Hassan Rasheed by the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to the Maldives, Nick Low.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of matters related to enhancing defence cooperation between the two countries. Minister Hassan Rasheed expressed appreciation for the support and assistance the UK continues to provide in strengthening the Maldives’ defence capabilities.
Enhancing the capabilities of the Maldives National Defence Force is one of the government’s major priorities, and the UK remains an important partner in supporting the Maldives in this sector.
In this regard, the Maldives National Defence Force has been conducting various training programmes in collaboration with the UK government and several other countries around the world.
