The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has forecast rough sea conditions and continued rainy weather across parts of the Maldives during the Eid holidays.
According to the MET Office, sea conditions across the country are expected to remain moderately rough during Eid, while unstable weather conditions are also likely to continue over the coming days.
This year’s Eid holiday falls on Wednesday, with many people expected to travel during the extended holiday period.
Speaking to local media, MET Office officials said rain is expected in central and northern parts of the Maldives during Eid, while weather conditions in the south are expected to be relatively better.
The agency also forecast stronger winds in central and northern regions compared to current conditions, with rough seas expected throughout the country.
MET said today’s calmer weather was only a brief break in the current unstable conditions. According to forecasts, wind speeds are expected to increase again from today onwards, with rainy weather likely to continue until Friday.
Authorities have advised the public, especially those traveling by sea during the Eid holidays, to remain cautious and monitor the latest weather updates before beginning journeys.
The MET Office also urged travelers and vessel operators to follow safety precautions and stay informed through official weather advisories.
