President Muizzu Reviews Progress of Boduthakurufaanu Magu Redevelopment Project

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday visited the ongoing Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project to inspect the progress of construction works aimed at modernising one of Malé’s busiest roads. During the visit, he reviewed multiple segments of the project stretching from Izzudheen Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal and received updates from Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib and MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee.

The redevelopment initiative includes widening sections of the road, resurfacing it with asphalt, and upgrading drainage infrastructure to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Authorities said portions of the project have already been completed and opened to the public, including the four-lane section near Republic Square and the Fish Market area.

The Boduthakurufaanu Magu project was awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) in April 2025 as part of the government’s broader effort to ease congestion and improve urban mobility in the capital. Officials say the upgraded roadway will meet modern urban standards once fully completed.
