BMW’s New 7 Series Debuts in ‘Maldives Blue II’

The BMW 7 Series and X7 Individual Profiles in Maldives Blue II Metallic

BMW has showcased its latest flagship 7 Series in a distinctive colour officially named BMW Individual Maldives Blue II, bringing a reference to the Maldives to one of the German automaker’s newest luxury models.

The colour was featured on a fully electric BMW i7 60 xDrive recently presented in Romania. BMW’s latest 7 Series received its most extensive update yet this year, incorporating new technology and design elements from the company’s Neue Klasse generation.

Maldives Blue II is part of BMW Individual, the manufacturer’s programme for highly customised vehicles. The shade has a turquoise-blue appearance, giving the large luxury sedan a colour distinctly different from the more conventional dark and metallic finishes commonly associated with the 7 Series.

According to BMW-focused automotive publication BMWBLOG, the Maldives Blue II finish is listed at €6,900 in Germany, equivalent to roughly MVR 117,000 at current exchange rates, before any market-specific taxes, fees or dealer charges. The price is therefore separate from the cost of the vehicle itself.

Availability of Individual colours depends on the model and market. BMW’s latest 7 Series can be extensively customised, with more than 500 exterior colours and combinations available, including a large selection of BMW Individual finishes.

The particular car showcased in Romania is the BMW i7 60 xDrive, the fully electric version of the flagship sedan. It produces up to 400 kW (544 hp) and uses all-wheel drive, while the latest i7 can achieve a WLTP range of around 727–728 kilometres, depending on specification.

The displayed vehicle was configured with BMW Individual’s Maldives Blue II exterior, 22-inch Individual aerodynamic wheels, the M Sport Pro package and a Smoke White Individual Merino leather interior. It also features BMW’s passenger display and the optional 31.3-inch rear Theatre Screen, which turns the rear cabin into an entertainment-focused space.

The new 7 Series also introduces BMW’s latest digital technology, including the BMW Panoramic iDrive system and other technologies originating from the company’s Neue Klasse vehicles. BMW describes the 2026 update as the most extensive model update it has carried out for the 7 Series.

The i7 60 xDrive starts at around €140,100 in Germany, before additional options. Adding the reported €6,900 Maldives Blue II paint alone brings the starting price to approximately €147,000 before other customisations. Fully equipped versions can climb substantially higher depending on the selected options.

The new 7 Series is offered with both electric and combustion-engine powertrains, with BMW also offering other i7 variants and higher-performance versions. In Germany, the i7 range includes the i7 50 xDrive, i7 60 xDrive and i7 M70 xDrive, with the latter positioned as the performance-focused electric model.

For the Maldives, however, the most notable detail may be the name on the paint option itself. “Maldives Blue II” is an official BMW Individual colour name, meaning the Maldives appears directly in BMW’s catalogue of bespoke automotive finishes.

BMW has not, in the material currently available, publicly explained the specific story behind the colour’s name or confirmed that the shade was developed specifically from the colours of the Maldivian environment. The name itself, however, is official and is now appearing on BMW’s latest flagship model.
