Missile Strike Hits Area Around Ahvaz Cancer Hospital

Areas surrounding a cancer hospital in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz have been hit in a missile attack, prompting patients and their families to flee the facility, according to an Iranian Health Ministry official.

Hossein Kermanpour, head of public relations at Iran’s Health Ministry, said the attack struck areas near Baghaei Hospital 2, which specializes in treating cancer patients.

In a post on X, Kermanpour said the loud explosions and powerful tremors caused widespread panic inside the hospital.

“Moments ago, the areas near Baghaei Hospital 2, dedicated to cancer patients, were hit by a missile attack,” he said. “Some patients and their companions, out of fear from the intense sound and severe tremors, have fled the hospital. Now only the most critically ill patients remain.”

There was no immediate information on casualties or damage to the hospital itself.

The latest incident comes a while after Iranian authorities reported that the medical facility had been evacuated following nearby strikes, with the renewed attack raising fresh concerns for the safety of patients and healthcare workers.
