President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said Rasmalé will have a police station staffed by Maldivian police officers, rejecting claims that the development would not include a police station.
Speaking in the latest episode of The Pulse, a programme produced by the President’s Office, Muizzu said a police station would operate in Rasmalé as the UAE-based Eagle Hills develops the waterfront and marina project.
The President’s remarks address concerns surrounding security arrangements in the proposed development, with Muizzu confirming that Maldivian officers would be stationed there.
Rasmalé is a major development project being undertaken by Eagle Hills in partnership with the Maldivian government. The proposed development has drawn political debate over its scale, land arrangements, foreign ownership and the safeguards governing the project.
Muizzu has also assured that no property in Rasmalé would be sold to Israeli nationals, rejecting claims that the development could facilitate the establishment of an Israeli or Jewish population in the Maldives.
