The Special Awards Committee has officially opened applications for the President’s Special Award for High Achievement. Interested individuals can submit their nominations starting today, with the application window closing on August 31, 2026.
According to the President’s Office, the prestigious awards will be granted across four distinct categories this year. The awards are designed to recognize exceptional accomplishments ranging from academic excellence to innovative national contributions.
The Four Award Categories
- Academic Excellence: This category honors individuals who have achieved remarkable success in higher education and training. It specifically recognizes those completing a Level 10 qualification (Doctoral degree) under the Maldives National Qualifications Framework (MNQF), or those who secured the highest honors and top positioning in Level 7 (Bachelor’s), Level 8 (Graduate Diploma/Postgraduate Certificate), or Level 9 (Master’s) courses.
- International Recognition: Dedicated to individuals who have brought pride to the Maldives by securing top ranks, honors, or peak recognition at international exhibitions, competitions, or global benchmarking events.
- Innovation and Research: Awarded to individuals who have conducted impactful academic research or created innovative inventions and products that provide tangible solutions to critical issues facing the country.
- Youth and National Development: This category targets creative, talented, and highly skilled youth who have made outstanding, productive, and innovative contributions to national development. The President’s Office specified that this category is open to youth between the ages of 18 and 35.
How to Apply
The President’s Office has streamlined the application process through its digital portal. Candidates or nominators can submit their documentation directly online by visiting apply.presidency.gov.mv.
The deadline for all submissions is August 31, 2026. The high-achieving recipients will be presented with their awards during the official official ceremony marking Republic Day later this year.
