Authorities have now started a cross-verification process to confirm the accuracy of information provided by applicants by comparing it with records held by various state institutions.
The ministry said the submitted applications include both the “Aailaa Boahiyaavahikan” housing programme and the “Goathi Gedhoru” land scheme.
Of the total applications received, 45,644 were submitted under the Aailaa Boahiyaavahikan programme, while 12,861 applications were filed under the Goathi Gedhoru programme.
Overall, applicants submitted 35,930 requests for flats and 22,575 requests for land plots.
Under the Aailaa Boahiyaavahikan programme alone, 35,818 applications were submitted for flats and 9,826 for land. Meanwhile, the Goathi Gedhoru programme received 112 applications for flats and 12,749 applications for land plots.
The government plans to allocate 15,000 land plots across the Greater Malé Region and Rasmale’. In addition, authorities have announced plans to provide 7,900 housing units within the Malé region as part of the wider housing initiative.
The verification process is expected to determine the eligibility of applicants before the next stages of allocation and implementation move forward.
