Iran Warns of Crushing Response to Any Israeli Counterattack

U.S. President Donald Trump has called for restraint following Iran’s missile attacks on Israel, which were launched amid escalating tensions over Israel’s ongoing military operations in Lebanon.

According to media reports, Trump is going to urge Israel not to carry out strikes against Iran and has called for an end to further escalation. He also stated that he was not informed in advance about Israel’s attacks on Lebanon and suggested that disagreements remain between Washington and Tel Aviv regarding the handling of the crisis.

Iran launched missile attacks against Israel saying the strikes were a response to continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, including recent bombardments in and around Beirut.

Iranian officials have since warned that any Israeli retaliatory strike would be met with an overwhelming response. Tehran said that if Israel chooses to launch counterattacks, Iran is prepared to carry out far more destructive operations against Israeli targets.

The exchange of threats and military action has raised fears of a wider regional conflict, with several countries already taking precautionary measures, including temporary airspace closures and heightened security alerts across the Middle East.
