A new police station has officially opened in AA. Feridhoo, marking a significant step in strengthening law enforcement services and public safety infrastructure in the island.
The facility, named Feridhoo Police Station, was inaugurated during a special ceremony attended by Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology Ali Ihusan and Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed.
The event was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Faruhad Fikury, senior police officials, Feridhoo Council President Anwar Saadath, council members, representatives of MTCC, and members of the public.
During the ceremony, Minister Ihusan hoisted the national flag while Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed raised the Maldives Police Service flag. Commemorative plaques were also presented in recognition of the support and cooperation provided by MTCC and the Feridhoo Council throughout the project.
Following the official opening, a tree-planting event was held within the station compound.
Construction of the station was carried out by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). Work on the project began on 19 August 2025 and includes administrative offices as well as accommodation facilities for police personnel.
The newly opened station forms part of an ongoing national initiative to establish dedicated police-owned facilities aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency across the Maldives.
