The program, launched by the government to develop disciplined, productive, and morally responsible youth who can contribute to the nation, saw 350 participants from 112 islands take part in the second batch of training. Among them were 64 females and 286 males, while 344 participants successfully completed the program.
A special ceremony was held in Maafilaafushi to mark the occasion, attended by Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed. During the ceremony, certificates and recognitions were presented to participants who completed the training. The minister also noted that two additional batches of the program are scheduled to be conducted later this year.
The “National Service Initial Training,” also known as the Maldivian National Service program, was introduced under President Mohamed Muizzu as a major policy initiative aimed at strengthening youth capabilities, work ethics, discipline, and national development.
The first batch of the program previously graduated 346 young participants. Of those, 66 students proceeded to vocational and specialized training programs. The government says the long-term objective of the initiative is to nurture a capable generation with a strong spirit of national service.
