MWSC, Maumoon Foundation Launch Master’s Scholarship Initiative

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has entered into a partnership with the Maumoon Foundation to establish a new Master’s scholarship programme aimed at expanding higher education opportunities for Maldivians and strengthening the country’s professional workforce.

Under the agreement, a postgraduate scholarship will be funded for studies at the Maldives National University (MNU), enabling a Maldivian student to pursue a Master’s degree.

MWSC said the initiative is being introduced as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and reflects the company’s continued commitment to investing in education, capacity building and the development of local talent.

The agreement was signed by MWSC Managing Director Hussain Fahmy and Maumoon Foundation Chairman Faris Maumoon.

According to MWSC, the scholarship programme is designed to support the growth of highly skilled professionals while contributing to the advancement of the Maldives’ education sector. The company noted that investment in higher education remains critical to building a knowledgeable workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of the nation.

The Maumoon Foundation, founded by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, has been actively involved in educational, social and community development programmes, with a strong focus on youth empowerment and learning opportunities.

MWSC highlighted that the collaboration represents another important step toward broadening access to postgraduate education and nurturing the next generation of professionals who will contribute to national development.

Details regarding eligibility requirements and the application process are expected to be announced by MWSC and the Maumoon Foundation in the coming weeks.
