The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, has accused Iran of committing “war crimes” by targeting civilian infrastructure in its latest attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.
In a statement issued by the GCC General Secretariat, Al-Budaiwi said Iran’s actions represented a dangerous escalation and violated international law, the United Nations Charter and international humanitarian norms.
He said the attacks deliberately targeted infrastructure and civilian facilities, describing them as “war crimes requiring international accountability and prosecution.”
Al-Budaiwi also accused Iran of seeking to undermine regional security and stability, saying the attacks demonstrated a “persistent determination to destabilise regional security and stability.”
His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions following Iran’s recent attacks on several Gulf states, which have drawn widespread condemnation from governments across the region.
