Iran and the United States exchanged fresh military strikes overnight and into Friday morning, with attacks reported across southern Iran and retaliatory operations launched against US military sites in the Gulf.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it struck a US military base in Kuwait, claiming to have hit a missile defence radar, weapons depots and two HIMARS missile launchers. The IRGC said the operation was carried out in retaliation for recent US attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure, including telecommunications and railway networks.
The IRGC also claimed it destroyed a US air surveillance radar in Oman’s Ghanim region and a maritime control radar in the Strait of Hormuz, adding that its retaliatory operations would continue and that the strategic waterway remained under the control of the IRGC Navy.
Separately, Iran’s army said it launched drone strikes against US military deployment sites and logistical support centres in Kuwait.
Regional militaries reported intercepting several Iranian attacks. Jordan said its air defences shot down three Iranian missiles without causing casualties, while Qatar’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted a missile attack targeting the country. Qatar’s Interior Ministry later confirmed that a child was injured by falling shrapnel from the interception and was receiving medical treatment.
Meanwhile, US attacks continued across southern Iran.
Iranian media reported that a US missile struck the Chabahar maritime control tower for the third time in a week. Fresh attacks were also reported in Sirik, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas and Iranshahr.
According to Iranian officials, the latest strikes damaged electricity infrastructure in Bandar Abbas, causing temporary power outages in the city and nearby villages before power was gradually restored. Authorities urged residents to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours.
Local officials also reported growing civilian casualties. In Bandar Abbas, one person was killed and eight others were injured after a residential area was reportedly struck. A separate attack on railway infrastructure near the city injured two people.
In Hormozgan province, the death toll from a US strike on the Bandar-e Khamir bridge rose to seven, with nine others injured, according to Iran’s Fars news agency. Earlier reports had placed the toll at two dead and four wounded.
The latest exchanges mark another escalation in the conflict, with fighting increasingly affecting civilian infrastructure alongside military targets across southern Iran and expanding retaliatory operations against US military positions in the Gulf.
