Israel has closed all crossings into the Gaza Strip following the missile attacks launched by Iran, according to the Israeli government agency responsible for coordinating activities in the Palestinian territories, COGAT. The measure was announced as security forces assessed the regional situation amid growing tensions.
In a statement, COGAT said the closures include both the Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) Crossing and the Rafah Crossing and will remain in effect until further notice. Israeli authorities said the decision was taken as part of a series of security measures introduced after the Iranian strikes.
The crossings play a vital role in the movement of people, humanitarian aid, medical evacuations, and commercial goods into and out of Gaza. Their closure is expected to further disrupt daily life in the territory and could affect the delivery of assistance if the restrictions remain in place for an extended period.
The move comes amid a sharp escalation between Iran and Israel. Iran launched missile attacks on Israeli territory overnight following continued Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, including strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israeli authorities say air defense systems intercepted many of the missiles, while both sides have exchanged warnings of further military action, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
