Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced strict penalties for motorists who exceed posted speed limits, warning that expatriates may face deportation for serious speeding offences.
As part of a road safety campaign titled “No Tolerance for Exceeding Posted Speed Limits,” authorities outlined penalties for drivers caught travelling at speeds of 150 km/h, 170 km/h, and 200 km/h.
Under the measures, citizens caught driving at 150 km/h face a traffic citation and vehicle impoundment. Those recorded at 170 km/h may face a traffic violation, detention pending legal procedures, and vehicle impoundment. Drivers caught travelling at 200 km/h face a traffic violation, vehicle impoundment, and possible imprisonment.
For expatriate residents, authorities said major speeding violations could result in a traffic citation, vehicle impoundment, and deportation from Kuwait.
The ministry said the measures are part of broader efforts to improve road safety and reduce dangerous driving, urging all motorists to comply with traffic laws and speed limits.
