Ticket sales for the MSPA Film Festival will begin on Sunday, 1 November 2026, the organisers have announced, giving film lovers less than two weeks to secure their seats before the week-long celebration of Maldivian cinema opens at Olympus Theatre.
The festival, jointly presented by the Maldives Society for Performing Arts (MSPA) and Bidhabin Events, runs from 12 to 19 November 2026 and will screen seven local feature films, as Maldives Ledger reported earlier this month.
Two Ticket Options
Audiences can choose between two types of tickets:
- Normal ticket – MVR 60: sold per film, giving entry to a single screening.
- Season ticket – MVR 350: gives entry to all films in the festival, each on its scheduled screening date.
For viewers planning to attend the full programme, the season ticket offers a clear saving. Buying a normal ticket for each of the seven films would cost MVR 420, so the season ticket works out MVR 70 cheaper while covering the entire lineup.
The Screening Schedule
All screenings take place at Olympus Theatre in Malé. Season ticket holders can attend each film on the date below:
- Thursday, 12 November (14:00) – Fureytha
- Saturday, 14 November (14:30) – Roboman
- Sunday, 15 November (14:30) – Kamanaa
- Monday, 16 November (14:30) – Kambalhi
- Tuesday, 17 November (14:30) – Dheydharu Ruin
- Wednesday, 18 November (14:30) – Saayaa
- Thursday, 19 November (14:30) – Bibii
The date of the Awards Night, which will honour artistic achievement across the festival’s categories, has not yet been announced.
Building on the First Edition
This year’s festival follows MSPA’s first film awards, which recognised Maldivian films released between 2018 and 2023. That edition was accompanied by a festival screening the submitted films in December 2024, with the winners announced at a ceremony held in August 2025.
The 2026 festival is supported by the National Centre for the Arts as venue partner, Public Service Media as broadcasting partner and Maldives Ledger as digital partner, along with a wider group of cultural and media partners.
With tickets going on sale on 1 November, organisers are encouraging film lovers to plan ahead and secure their seats for a week dedicated to local storytelling on the big screen.
