The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has signed agreements with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to carry out infrastructure development projects across 11 islands.
The agreements were signed on Wednesday by Minister of State Ismail Hameed on behalf of the ministry and MTCC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamshid on behalf of the company.
The projects will cover road construction, drainage systems and streetlight installation, with roadworks including tar-sealed and sand roads ranging from 2.1 to 3.2 kilometres in length, depending on the island.
The 11 islands covered under the agreements are AA. Feridhoo, AA. Mathiveri, B. Dharavandhoo, B. Kendhoo, F. Feeali, N. Magoodhoo, R. Innamaadhoo, R. Rasgetheemu, Sh. Bilehfahi, Sh. Maaungoodhoo and K. Dhiffushi.
