Eight Palestinians, including the director of the police station in Jabalia refugee camp, several police officers and a woman, were killed on Tuesday after an Israeli drone strike targeted a police post in northern Gaza, according to Palestinian officials.
The Gaza Interior Ministry identified the police chief as Col. Mohammed Marwan Salem, who was killed alongside his deputy and several police officers when an Israeli drone fired four missiles at the station.
The police post was located near Shadia School in the Al-Falouja area of Jabalia refugee camp, a busy marketplace surrounded by tents sheltering displaced Palestinians and temporary evacuation centres. Medical sources said the bodies of six victims, including a woman, were taken to Al-Shifa Medical Complex and the American field hospital.
Palestinian officials said the officers were responsible for maintaining law and order in the area, adding that the strike was part of a pattern of attacks on law enforcement infrastructure across the Gaza Strip. They argued that repeated strikes on police facilities have contributed to growing instability and an expanding security vacuum in the enclave.
Elsewhere in southern Gaza, one Palestinian was killed and three others were wounded when an Israeli drone struck a tent housing displaced families near the Tayba Towers area west of Khan Younis. In a separate incident, child Moataz Abu Shaar was killed by Israeli army gunfire in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah.
The attacks came as hostilities continued despite the ceasefire that entered into force on October 10, 2025.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began have killed 1,108 Palestinians and injured 3,578 others as of Monday. Gaza’s Government Media Office has reported slightly higher figures, saying 3,689 ceasefire violations have been recorded, with 1,122 people killed and 3,599 injured since the truce took effect.
Since the war began in October 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 173,000 injured, while Palestinian authorities estimate that around 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
