Israel has been placed on high alert amid warnings of possible attacks targeting the country.
According to a report by Israel’s Channel 12, Israeli security authorities have raised the alert level in response to threats issued by Iran. The heightened state of readiness comes after warnings that missile attacks could be launched against Israel.
The situation escalated after Israel carried out heavy airstrikes on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Following the strikes, Iran warned that it would respond and hold Israel accountable for the attacks.
Reports suggest that Iran may launch aerial attacks against Israel at some point tonight.
Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of Iran’s parliament and spokesman for the National Security Commission, stated that Iran would deliver a “painful response” to Israeli strikes on southern Beirut.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, said that although Iran remains engaged in diplomatic consultations, it is prepared to confront any challenge. He strongly criticized both Israel and the United States over the attacks on southern Lebanon and Beirut.
Ghalibaf also warned that due to what he described as U.S. pressure on Iran and Washington’s support for Israel, American interests and military facilities in the region could become targets of future attacks.
While making these remarks, Ghalibaf also called on U.S. President Donald Trump to prevent further attacks on Lebanon.
