The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has forecast continued unsettled weather conditions across much of the country today, with heavy rainfall expected in several regions.
According to the weather forecast valid until 6:00 PM, thunderstorms are likely across parts of the northern and central atolls, while some northern islands may experience periods of heavy rain.
The Met Office noted that weather conditions in the southern atolls are expected to gradually improve, although isolated showers may still occur in some areas.
Winds are forecast to blow from the southwest and south-southwest. In the southern atolls, wind speeds are expected to range between 5 and 15 miles per hour, while other regions may experience winds of 10 to 20 miles per hour. Gusts could reach up to 35 miles per hour during squally conditions.
Sea conditions are expected to be rough across northern and central waters, particularly during periods of strong winds and thunderstorms. Southern seas are forecast to remain relatively moderate.
Wave heights are expected to range between three and six feet in northern and central regions, while southern atolls may experience waves between two and four feet.
Authorities have advised the public, especially seafarers and those planning outdoor activities, to remain cautious due to the possibility of heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas.
