Maldives condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi airports

The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned attacks by the Houthi group targeting Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia on October 6 and 7.

In a statement issued on October 8, the Maldivian government described the attacks as a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and said they pose a serious threat to regional peace, security and stability.

The Maldives expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

The government also reaffirmed its solidarity with the Government and people of Saudi Arabia and its support for measures taken to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

The attacks resulted in three deaths and 36 injuries. Two women, a Moroccan and an Algerian, were killed in the attack on Abha International Airport, while a Sudanese resident was killed in the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
