The Maldives has expressed its full support for Saudi Arabia following accusations made against the Kingdom by Yemen’s Houthi movement, reaffirming its backing for Saudi Arabia’s position and its efforts to promote peace in Yemen.
In an official statement issued today, the Maldivian government endorsed a statement released by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which strongly rejected the allegations made by the Houthis. Saudi Arabia described the accusations as baseless and condemned claims that it was working against the interests of the Yemeni people.
The Maldivian government said it fully supports Saudi Arabia’s response and commended the Kingdom’s continued commitment to restoring peace and stability in Yemen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s ongoing cooperation with Yemen’s internationally recognized government and the United Nations to advance peace efforts, ease the suffering of the Yemeni people, and encourage a lasting political solution to the conflict.
In addition, the Maldives highlighted Saudi Arabia’s significant role in providing humanitarian and development assistance to Yemen, recognizing the Kingdom’s continued contributions to supporting the country’s people during the prolonged crisis.
Reaffirming the close ties between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, the statement also pledged the Maldives’ continued support for all initiatives aimed at strengthening Yemen’s security, stability, and long-term peace.
