The government has announced plans to extend the ongoing redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, with the next phase set to cover the stretch from Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) to Rasfannu.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced the decision during the fourth episode of the government’s weekly podcast, The President’s Pulse.
According to the President, work on the current section of the project between the Henveiru Ferry Terminal and Izzuddin Bridge is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed and opened to the public next week.
Once that section is finished, construction will immediately move to the next phase, upgrading the road from the MPL area to Rasfannu.
The President noted that this section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu has deteriorated significantly and requires extensive rehabilitation.
The redevelopment project aims to modernise one of Malé’s busiest roads through resurfacing and infrastructure improvements. Construction on the broader Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project officially began on 21 August last year.
