The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced the completion of key utility infrastructure works under Phase One of the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Development Project, marking a significant milestone in one of the capital’s major urban redevelopment initiatives.
According to MTCC, all sewerage lines, water pipe connections, stormwater catchpits, and cable junction installations have now been fully completed, achieving 100 percent completion of the project’s critical utility components.
The company stated that road subgrading works are also progressing steadily. Following the completion of works in Segments 5 and 4, construction activities have now commenced in Segments 3 and 2 as the project moves into its next phase.
MTCC further revealed that asphalt-laying machinery is scheduled to be mobilized on 1 July 2026, paving the way for the start of road surfacing works.
To facilitate the upcoming asphalt works, the road section stretching from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal area to the Carnival parking zone entrance will be temporarily closed to traffic during the construction period.
The Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project is aimed at improving road infrastructure, utility networks, and traffic flow along one of Malé City’s busiest corridors. Authorities expect the project to enhance public services while contributing to the long-term modernization of the capital’s transport network.
MTCC has urged the public to cooperate with temporary traffic arrangements as work progresses toward the next stage of the project.
