Police have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of possessing and trafficking drugs in Fuvahmulah City.
The suspect, Ibrahim Maooz, of Zamhareeruge Hoadhadu, Fuvahmulah, was arrested on 11 October under a court warrant.
Police searched his residence as part of an investigation into allegations that he possessed, used and trafficked drugs. During the search, officers discovered substances suspected to be drugs, weighing approximately seven grams, along with items believed to be used in drug distribution.
Following his appearance in court for a decision on his detention, the court ordered that he be remanded in custody for 15 days.
Police are continuing to investigate the case.
