Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week in New York.
The ministers discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and Russia, with discussions also covering continued political dialogue and the expansion of practical cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting comes as Maldives continues its diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, with senior Maldivian officials holding a series of bilateral meetings focused on strengthening international partnerships and advancing cooperation.
The meeting follows a series of bilateral engagements held by Maldives during the UNGA High-Level Week, including meetings with officials from Belarus, Croatia and Angola to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation.
