The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has officially commenced its 74th Basic Training Course.
The opening ceremony was held on September 24 at the MNDF Southern Area Command and was presided over by Brigadier General Dr. Hussain Ibrahim, Commanding Officer of the College of Defence and Security Studies.
Addressing the recruits and instructors, Brigadier General Hussain urged the trainees to work hard to successfully complete the course and develop the discipline and resilience expected of a soldier. He also called on the instructors to ensure that all stages of the training are conducted with the safety of the trainees in mind.
The ceremony included an oath-taking ceremony for the recruits and a pledge by the instructors. The recruits took their oath under the guidance of the course’s Chief Instructor, Captain Mohamed Naif, while the instructors made their pledge before the course’s Company Commander, Major Namil Abdul Ghafur.
A total of 156 recruits are taking part in the 74th Basic Training Course, including 24 female recruits.
The ceremony was attended by Southern Area Command Commander Colonel Mohamed Jamshad, Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Nilam, Command Sergeant Major Abdul Junaid, and other MNDF personnel.
