While U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Iran and the United States have reached an agreement aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Tehran has not yet officially confirmed the claim.

Trump said an announcement on the date the agreement would be signed is expected later tonight.

However, no official response has so far been issued by the Iranian government regarding Trump’s statements.

In response to the announcement, Iran’s IRGC-linked Tasnim News Agency noted that Trump has repeatedly claimed a deal was close. According to the agency, Trump has made similar declarations 38 times over the past two months, saying an agreement was near.

Tasnim also reported that a draft framework was finalised in Tehran yesterday while a Qatari delegation was present. The reported draft was completed before the latest U.S. strikes against Iran.

However, the existence of a finalised draft framework does not necessarily mean that Iran’s leadership has formally approved or endorsed the proposed agreement.

Qatar is also said to be playing a significant mediating role, with Doha continuing diplomatic efforts to help both sides reach a lasting agreement.

For now, despite Trump’s claims of a breakthrough, Iran has yet to publicly confirm that a final agreement has been reached.
