Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has confirmed that all Maldivian pilgrims currently performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia are safe and in good health.
In a message shared with local media, Minister Shaheem said all Maldivian pilgrims are presently in Arafat as part of the major Hajj rituals.
He also stated that the condition of the pilgrim who was admitted to Mina Hospital last night has improved. According to the minister, the Maldives Hajj Corporation has since arranged for the pilgrim to be transferred to Arafat as well.
Earlier today, Minister Shaheem noted that all Maldivian pilgrims except one had already arrived in Arafat. The only pilgrim who had not travelled there at the time was receiving treatment at Mina Hospital.
However, he expressed confidence that arrangements would be completed to take the pilgrim to Arafat safely.
The Maldives Hajj Mission later confirmed that all Maldivian pilgrims had successfully arrived in Arafat.
According to the Hajj calendar, this year’s main Hajj rituals are scheduled to take place from May 24 to May 29.
A total of 1,000 Maldivian pilgrims are participating in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage under the official quota allocated to the Maldives.
