A children’s cancer treatment hospital in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz has reportedly been evacuated after nearby US airstrikes struck the area, according to Iranian officials.
The Iranian Ministry of Health said part of the area surrounding the medical facility was hit during the latest wave of US attacks, prompting the evacuation of the hospital as a precaution. There were no immediate reports of casualties among patients or medical staff.
The development came as the United States expanded its military operations across southern Iran, with multiple cities reportedly coming under attack over the past several hours.
According to reports from Iranian sources, explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, Iran’s largest and most strategically important port city, where several locations were reportedly targeted.
Further east, continued US airstrikes were reported in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, including the cities of Konarak, Chabahar, and Rasak.
In Ahvaz, explosions were also reported in and around the city as US strikes continued. Iranian authorities said one of the targeted areas was located near the children’s cancer treatment centre, leading to the hospital’s evacuation to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
The latest attacks are part of an expanding US military campaign against Iran that has increasingly focused on southern provinces and key coastal infrastructure. The strikes come amid heightened regional tensions following days of military exchanges between Washington and Tehran.
There has been no immediate comment from the US military regarding the reported impact on the hospital or the allegations made by Iranian officials.
The reported evacuation has raised fresh concerns over the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict, as military operations continue to affect civilian areas alongside strategic targets.
