Of those inspected, 808 drivers received advice and warnings rather than formal penalties. Police also recorded 23 vehicles being driven dangerously, including 20 motorcycles and three four-wheeled vehicles.
A further 85 drivers were fined for operating vehicles without the appropriate licence, while 145 vehicles were towed.
Enforcement in Malé

Police also took action in 371 cases involving vehicles that did not meet required standards and 171 cases of parking that obstructed traffic.
The latest figures indicate a decline in reported road accidents in both Malé and Hulhumalé following the introduction of intensified enforcement measures.
Police said the operations aim not only to penalise violations but also to prevent dangerous driving and improve road safety. The service has urged motorists to comply with speed limits, follow road markings and parking regulations, and exercise caution around other road users.
