The Maldives Police Service has revised its employment regulations to extend lifelong healthcare benefits to families of officers killed in the line of duty and enhance retirement packages for veteran officers.
Under the newly amended regulations, families of fallen officers will maintain uninterrupted access to the medical care framework provided to active police families. The policy updates also grant the Police Executive Management Board the authority to authorize official ceremonial funerals for officers who lose their lives in the line of duty, based on the nature and circumstances of the incident.
Announcing the reforms during a ceremony marking the 93rd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed outlined key adjustments to honorably retired personnel as well.
Under the revised framework, retirement entitlements will now be calculated directly on total years of service, removing previous caps on benefit limits. Furthermore, officers who complete 25 years of service and retire honorably will receive healthcare coverage equivalent to active-duty personnel.
