The Maldives Police Service has issued a warning that individuals walking across the Sinamalé Bridge toward Hulhulé and Hulhumalé will face legal consequences, citing growing safety concerns over pedestrians bypassing security barriers.

Law enforcement authorities emphasized that foot traffic along the highway structure has been strictly prohibited since the bridge officially opened on August 30, 2018. Despite longstanding restrictions, officers have repeatedly caught individuals squeezing past barriers explicitly erected to block pedestrian entry.

Police warned that unauthorized foot traffic on the high-speed bridge creates severe hazards and significantly increases the risk of fatal traffic collisions. In response to recent violations, authorities have installed additional prohibition signage across restricted access points to remove any ambiguity regarding the ban.

The police service reaffirmed that strict legal action will be taken against anyone caught ignoring the safety signs, entering restricted highway zones on foot, or committing related traffic offenses. Members of the public are urged to adhere to established traffic regulations to ensure personal and public safety.
