The Housing Ministry has published the points awarded to applicants for 100 government-built housing units in Thaa Vilufushi and opened a window for complaints, which will close at 2pm on 10 November.
The ministry announced on Monday that it had finished verifying the applications and that scores are now available on the Hiyaavehi portal, the government’s online platform for housing applications. The units are being allocated under the government’s “Housing for All” policy.
How Applicants Can Lodge Complaints
Applicants can log in to the Hiyaavehi portal to check the points they received. Anyone who disagrees with their score can file a complaint through the same portal before the deadline.
The ministry has made clear that complaints sent through any other channel will not be considered, and that submissions received after 2pm on 10 November will also be rejected. Applicants are therefore advised to review their scores early and use only the portal to raise any concerns.
Three-Bedroom Homes on Individual Plots
Each of the 100 houses has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen. Every unit stands on its own plot measuring 2,000 square feet.
The housing project was first commissioned in 2011, and construction has since been completed. Earlier this year, officials said work was under way to connect utility services, with Fenaka Corporation responsible for water and sewerage connections.
Strong Demand During Application Period
Applications for the Vilufushi units opened on 11 January 2026 and were originally due to close on 11 April. The ministry later extended the deadline to 30 April to give more people the chance to apply.
At the time of the extension, the ministry had received 206 applications for the 100 Vilufushi houses, meaning more than two applicants were competing for each unit. A separate batch of 100 units in Thulhaadhoo, opened under the same round, had drawn 347 applications by then.
With the points now public, the complaint stage is the final opportunity for applicants to challenge their scores before the allocation process moves forward. The ministry has not yet announced when the final list of recipients will be released.
