A foreign fishing vessel operating in violation of Maldivian law within the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) has been brought under the custody of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard.
The vessel was intercepted during a special operation conducted by the MNDF Coast Guard and brought under the supervision of Coast Guard Ship Imaduddin.
The vessel, carrying seven people, was intercepted at 18:34 on September 30 while operating 46 nautical miles northwest of Thuraakunu in Haa Alif Atoll.
The MNDF said efforts are currently underway to bring the vessel to Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
