President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has shared a message to mark the Day of Arafat, describing it as a day filled with mercy, blessings, forgiveness, and spiritual fulfillment for Muslims around the world.
In his message commemorating the 1447 Hijri Hajj Day, the President highlighted the importance of the sacred occasion as millions of pilgrims gathered in Arafat to perform the most significant rite of Hajj. He began the message with the Talbiyah prayer recited by pilgrims during the pilgrimage.
President Muizzu noted that the Day of Arafat represents one of the holiest moments in Islam, bringing together Muslims from across the world in worship, unity, and devotion before Allah. He said the day offers believers a unique opportunity to seek forgiveness and mercy.
The President also described the Day of Arafat as a moment when Allah takes pride in His servants, emphasizing its deep spiritual value within the Islamic faith.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also conveyed greetings to pilgrims performing Hajj, praying for their safety, acceptance of worship, and blessings for the wider Islamic Ummah.
Officials have confirmed that Maldivian pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia are in good condition, with nearly all gathered in Arafat as part of the Hajj rituals. Authorities also stated that a pilgrim who had earlier been admitted to hospital had later been transferred to Arafat after receiving treatment.
The Day of Arafat is regarded as one of the most sacred days in Islam and is widely believed to be a day of immense forgiveness and mercy. Hajj, which is the fifth pillar of Islam, is obligatory once in a lifetime for Muslims who are financially and physically capable of undertaking the pilgrimage.
