Discussions Ongoing for BML Expansion to Sri Lanka

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that discussions are underway to establish a branch of Bank of Maldives in Sri Lanka, as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Speaking during his official state visit to Sri Lanka, President Muizzu said both governments are exploring new opportunities for financial cooperation, including expanding BML’s services internationally. Discussions have also included plans to promote premium Maldivian fish products in the Sri Lankan market.

The visit is focused on enhancing bilateral ties through increased trade, investment, and business collaboration, while several agreements are expected to be signed across sectors such as tourism, health, education, and security. President Muizzu also highlighted the importance of upcoming business forums in connecting investors and businesses from both nations.
