Iranian officials have pushed back against United States President Donald Trump’s claim that a memorandum aimed at ending hostilities between the two countries would be signed on Sunday.

In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump said the agreement was “scheduled to get signed tomorrow” and claimed that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen to all shipping immediately after the signing.

However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei denied that any signing would take place on Sunday. Speaking to state media, Baghaei said negotiators had not reached a final conclusion on the agreement and that no memorandum would be signed the following day.

“We have to wait and see about the exact time of signing; although it will not be tomorrow,” Baghaei said, adding that a signing could still take place in the coming days.

Baghaei’s remarks echoed earlier statements from Iranian officials, who have repeatedly stressed that discussions are ongoing and that the proposed agreement has not yet been finalized.

The conflicting statements highlight continuing differences between Washington and Tehran over the status of the negotiations, despite both sides signalling that progress has been made toward a potential agreement.

While Trump has expressed confidence that a deal is imminent, Iranian officials maintain that the final text is still under review and awaits approval from the country’s decision-making bodies.

It was announced by Pakistan that a deal between USA and Iran has been finalized and the signing will take place on Sunday.
