Maldives Immigration has joined the National Respect Campaign, a nationwide initiative introduced under the administration of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to promote mutual respect, courtesy and positive social values across Maldivian society.

The Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage announced the development through its official social media platforms on Thursday, November 5, as preparations continue for the campaign’s formal inauguration on November 14.

The announcement highlights the growing involvement of government institutions in the initiative, which seeks to encourage respectful behaviour and strengthen social harmony across communities, workplaces and public institutions.

The National Respect Campaign is being organised under the slogan “Ikhthiraam ge Ufaa – Mujthamau ge Nafaa”, meaning “Value of Respect – Benefit to Society.” The programme aims to promote consideration for others, good character and responsible conduct in everyday interactions.

The participation of Maldives Immigration represents another step towards involving public institutions in the nationwide effort. As an agency responsible for immigration services and border management, its involvement adds to the campaign’s institutional reach.

The initiative forms part of President Muizzu’s broader efforts to strengthen the values of mutual respect, kindness and community responsibility. The government has outlined plans to implement the campaign over five years, with activities intended to reach communities throughout the Maldives.

Preparations have intensified in recent weeks as the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage coordinates with government agencies and other stakeholders ahead of the official launch.

As previously reported by Maldives Ledger, Minister Heena Waleed met with members of the Civil Service Commission on November 3 to discuss final arrangements for the campaign. During the meeting, Civil Service Commission President Mohamed Mujthaz highlighted the initiative’s importance and discussed the commission’s potential contribution to its implementation.

The discussions focused on institutional cooperation and the support required to facilitate the nationwide programme, reflecting the government’s intention to encourage participation across the public sector.

Earlier, on October 17, Maldives Ledger reported that public voting had opened to select the official logo for the National Respect Campaign. Ten shortlisted designs were presented for public consideration through the PSM Air application, with voting scheduled to conclude on October 29.

The logo selection process was introduced to encourage public involvement in shaping the campaign’s identity and to establish a recognisable symbol representing dignity, harmony and mutual respect.

The government has also outlined plans for a nine-member committee, including representatives from relevant institutions and Public Service Media, to provide strategic guidance and oversight for the initiative.

With the official inauguration scheduled for November 14, the campaign is expected to bring together government institutions, community organisations and members of the public in a coordinated effort to promote respectful behaviour and strengthen social relationships.

The latest announcement concerning Maldives Immigration adds to the preparations underway as the country approaches the launch of the National Respect Campaign.
